Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods

As a fresher in a Ph.D. research institution, I was completely lost in the first few years in understanding the different research methods in social sciences. This experience motivated me to design this course to offer a Ph.D. Students in Social Sciences especially Information Systems and Technology who struggle to understand these research methods in a more flexible way to master them. For three years I have been actively involved in preparing Ph.D. students at Claremont Graduate University USA for their Doctoral Qualifying exam. We have registered tremendous success in those years. The courses/tutorials offered here are designed to be interactive, self-paced, personalized, and synchronous.

I offer tutorials on a one-on-one or on a class basis. The student is in control of the Duration of the tutorials(self-paced)

Our courses cover, Introduction to IS&T Research, Qualitative, Quantitative, and Design Science Research Methods.

In Qualitative Research, students shall learn the use of Case Study (interpretive and positivist), Ethnography, Action Research, and Grounded Theory research methods.

In Quantitative Research, students shall learn how to apply advanced statistical methods such as Correlation, Regression, Chi-square, T-test, Anova, Ancova, Manova, Mancova, Partial Least Square Structural equation (PLS-SEM), and other vital information about quantitative research.

There is a paradigm for doing research in IS&T called Design Science Research which is a problem-oriented paradigm whose goal is to design and evaluate IT artifacts to solve organizational problems in a very effective and efficient manner. Students shall be offered a detailed understanding of this research paradigm and when to use it.

We shall help students to understand the positivist and interpretivist research traditions, the difference between the two, and when to choose which.

You can trust me to help you gain a holistic and grounded knowledge of these research methodologies, the importance of theory in research, how to apply theoretical frameworks or build new theories, the importance of literature review, etc
